E2 Conjugating

E2-605

This E2 enzyme encodes for the human homolog of the yeast Ubc8 gene. UbcH2 can conjugate ubiquitin to histone H2A in an E3-independent manner in vitro. This E2 enzyme is also involved in the ubiquitination of N-end rule pathway substrates, and can function in conjugation with the E3ligase enzyme. Additionally, UbcH2 may have a role in sepsis-induced muscle protein proteolysis and cancer-induced cachexia. This protein has an N-terminal GST tag.

E2-622

UbcH5 enzymes are human homologs of the yeast UBC4/5 family and play many important regulatory roles in inflammation and cancer. UbcH5b mediates the degradation of a myriad short-lived regulatory proteins (such as p53 in the presence of E6/E6AP or MDM2, c-Fos, IκBα, p105) and abnormal proteins. UbcH5b has 89% and 88% sequence identity with UbcH5a and UbcH5c respectively.
